Built to solve a specific problem

Every project here started with a constraint. Technical, organizational, or both. The work shows what that looks like once it is solved.

UDS Parts

A wholesale webshop where every customer sees their own net price.

ScopeDevelopment of the full webshop and its pricing rules

Highlights

  1. 01Each customer sees the list price and their own net price side by side
  2. 02Discounts per customer or per account type, and the best one always applies
  3. 03Agreed products stay private and show live stock to that customer
  4. 04Pay on invoice for approved accounts only

Every customer has different terms. A standard webshop shows one price.

A distributor of driveline components sells to business customers who each have their own terms. Discounts depend on the customer, their account type and the product category, and some products are agreed with one customer only. Standard webshop pricing cannot express that.

Before
  • One public price list, while every customer has their own terms
  • No way to offer a product to one customer only
  • Invoice payment open to everyone or to no one
After
  • Each customer logs in and sees their own net price
  • Agreed products are private, with live stock for that customer
  • Invoice payment only for approved accounts
The shop now prices the way the business already sells.

How it works

A WooCommerce webshop with pricing rules built for wholesale. Once a customer logs in, the list price appears struck through next to their own net price. Discounts are set per customer or per account type, for any level of the catalog, and the best one applies. Products agreed with a single customer stay out of the public shop and show live stock to that customer only. Paying on invoice is offered to approved accounts only.

Technical details

Pricing rules

Discounts are a percentage per product category, set for a single customer or for an account type. When several apply, the customer gets the highest.

Discount admin

The team sets discounts on a form built from the live three-level category tree, and finds products by part number.

Private products

Products under a price agreement are excluded from the public catalog. Their stock level is shown only to the customer they belong to.

Checkout

Business details such as the Chamber of Commerce number are collected at checkout and shown on the order. Invoice payment appears only for approved accounts.
